the to-do list vs. my mind

I want to share something I have been dealing with here lately that some of you might relate to.

I have soooooo many tasks on my to-do list, but so many times I get so overwhelmed and all I want to do is curl up into a ball, eat cake, and watch Netflix.

BUT…This does not make my list go away. In fact, it makes it bigger and more daunting, especially if that something on my list has been piling sky high itself.

While procrastinating my list, I was on Pinterest reading through some inspirational quotes and found one by Amelia Earhart. The quote was so simple, but yet so relevant.

She said, “The most effective way to do it is to do it.”

No brainer right? But yet, it’s easier said than done in my mental game I play with my list.

  • “The list is too big for me to accomplish alone…so I might as well not even attempt it…”
  • “I’ll just do it tomorrow…”
  • “What is I don’t get it all done and I look like a failure?”
  • “What if my list keeps me from doing what I WANT to do?” ***SPOILER ALERT*** IT ALREADY IS!

These thoughts are counterproductive and are going to accomplish what I am trying to avoid —FAILING. Not starting is failing by default, so what am I waiting for?

It’s time to put on my big girl pants and tackle my list one thing at a time…AND not beat myself up for what I don’t get done today.
